Logo design for the institute of democratization of speech, free exchange of opinions, intellectual ideas on philosophically complex, political-social topics. The client requested an iconographic solution for the logo derived from the lowercase Greek letter φ, which represents the sound “ph” in ancient Greek. In doing so, I tried to use the well-established Phi symbol to create a unique sign that is consistent with the story.
Thus, at the customer’s request for the logo design, I made an icon from the existing Phi symbol, with a modification and an addition on the left part of the icon, which somewhat resembles a chalice, an ancient religious vessel. With the added lines within left part of the icon, I created an association with the liturgical and ancient instrument of the harp. In accordance with the story of the logo, I chose a color reminiscent of gold. Finally, the textual part, the name of institution, is written in serif font, visually matching the logo mark and its story.
